Schools & Universities

Tŷ Newydd arranges residential and day-long creative writing courses for primary and secondary schools, as well as for universities and other higher education establishments. Every course is unique.

We work with the educational staff to organise bespoke courses that complement the school or university’s curriculum, providing a choice of genres, content and tutors to suit the group’s creative aspirations.

Tŷ Newydd offers an inspirational environment, and the time, space and confidence for young people to explore their potential as writers. They will receive advice and mentoring from professional writers and enjoy many opportunities to feel, respond and share through writing.

There are group sessions, one-to-one tutorials, readings and some time for pupils and students to work individually on their own writing.

Everyone lives at Tŷ Newydd for the duration of residential courses and the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Pupils and students help themselves to breakfast and lunch and help, as part of a team, to prepare one evening meal for the rest of the group.

We can house up to 20 pupils or students.
