Sign up to Write up: Discounted stays at Nant Writers’ Retreat

We understand the value of time, space, and peace and quiet for writers and believe that everyone should have equal access to these during their creative process. Two of Literature Wales’ main priorities include addressing historical and structural inequalities within Wales’ literary sector and promoting the Welsh-language. This is why we would like to offer periodic heavily discounted stays at Nant Writers’ Retreat Cottage for writers who are under-represented in Wales’ literary culture and/or who write through the medium of Welsh.

How does it work?

Eligible writers are encouraged to complete this short online registration form. Following this, Literature Wales staff will check the forms for eligibility and all eligible writers will be added to a central (internal) list. Registered writers will be contacted as soon as a stay at Nant comes available. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that although we will always strive to give as much notice as possible, spaces are sometimes made available at short intervals before the retreat and the dates on offer will be fixed.

Who can register?

This opportunity is open to individuals over the age of 18 who are currently living in Wales. Writers at all stages of their writing careers are welcome to register.

We would particularly like to hear from:

  • Individuals of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic backgrounds
  • People who identify as Disabled or who have a long-term health condition- mental or physical
  • People from low-income backgrounds
  • Writers writing through the medium of Welsh

We understand that this is not an exhaustive list, and welcome anyone who considers themselves to be underrepresented to explain their background and the barriers they’ve faced in their own words within the registration form.

For further information about Nant Writers’ Retreat Cottage, please read through our FAQs. If you have any further questions, please contact Literature Wales on 01766 522 811 or email tynewydd@literaturewales.org.

Accessibility

Please note that Nant Cottage is currently not accessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. Should this apply to you, we encourage you to continue with your registration form as we will endeavour to find alternative arrangements for you to ensure a safe and comfortable stay. You can read more about the accessibility of Tŷ Newydd on our website. If you have any questions or concerns, please do get in touch with us on 01766 522 811 / tynewydd@literaturewales.org to chat to a member of staff.
