Cadw’s Open Doors Festival is back for 2016. Open Doors offers both local people and visitors alike the chance to explore the hidden treasures of Wales’s culture and history. Tŷ Newydd’s door will be open once again this year.

Tŷ Newydd is a listed Grade II * building that was originally built as a wooden frame house in the 15th century. The house was redesigned into a three-storey house with a Georgian facade during the mid-eighteenth century. The house was further restored and renovated during the early 1940s by Clough Williams-Ellis, the famous architect who created Portmeirion, on behalf of the former Prime Minister David Lloyd George. He lived here until his death in 1945.

We shall be opening our doors and gardens to the public and we wish to warmly invite you to wander around this special house and its gardens. The Lloyd George Museum will also be opening its doors, and you’ll be able to spend a whole day learning more about the life of the former Prime Minister from Llanystumdwy.

Members of staff will be on hand to offer information about the site. Tea, cakes and lunch (lobsgows) will be available.
