The annual Disability Arts Cymru Poetry Competition was won this year by Denni Turp, with her poem ‘Triawd y Gorffennol: above Braich Quarry’.

This year’s theme was On the Edge, as DA Cymru wanted to reflect the feelings of their members about this broad theme which was open to their own interpretation.

The judge, Dominic Williams said: “I’ve been impressed by the quality of this year’s entries, and there were many excellent pieces of work.”

It was Literature Wales’ pleasure to sponsor the competition and offer a prize to the winner – which is a £300 voucher which can be redeemed against any creative writing course at the Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre in 2019.

Leusa Llewelyn, Head of Tŷ Newydd, said: “Literature Wales are very pleased to sponsor this worthy competition once again this year. Dominic’s praising adjudication also suggest a strong future for this competition. We look forward to reading the winning poem and welcoming Denni to Tŷ Newydd.”
