Good news! Tŷ Newydd has its own chef, Tony, which means you wont have to take it in turns to cook, like other similar writing centres. Examples of the menu can be found below, though this does change with the seasons and also depends on each group’s dietary requirements of course. Once you’ve booked onto a course, you’ll be invited to let us know of any dietary requirements or allergies we need to be aware of. Guests are expected to sign up to a rota to help with laying the table and washing up and putting the food away. For week-long courses, this usually means signing up to one day only. Sometimes, if the group is smaller, there might be a need to sign up to two days per person.
We appreciate that these tasks might not be accessible to everyone, due to physical and/or invisible disabilities; illnesses and long-term health conditions, or any other reason. In those circumstances, we can adapt the tasks to suit your needs, or if required, you can be excused from these duties. There are always plenty of fruit and snacks available, and unlimited teas, coffees and cold drinks.
